Business Roundtable’s 181 CEOs Adopt New Pledge: Stakeholders Matter

In August, Business Roundtable released a new Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation. Signed by 181 CEOs, including American Express, Amazon, JPMorgan Chase & Co., and the Progressive Company, these executives affirm to lead their companies for the benefit of ALL stakeholders (yes, stakeholders), including customers, employees, suppliers, communities and shareholders. ¬†Although much work is to be done to garner public trust, this public announcement is a giant leap forward for legitimizing companies who already operate with (or are considering) a purpose-driven business mindset.
