Business Roundtable’s 181 CEOs Adopt New Pledge: Stakeholders Matter

In August, Business Roundtable released a new Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation. Signed by 181 CEOs, including American Express, Amazon, JPMorgan Chase & Co., and the Progressive Company, these executives affirm to lead their companies for the benefit of ALL stakeholders (yes, stakeholders), including customers, employees, suppliers, communities and shareholders.  Although much work is to be done to garner public trust, this public announcement is a giant leap forward for legitimizing companies who already operate with (or are considering) a purpose-driven business mindset.
